SNNPCC Unit Outing 2011

“OMG you know what time I slept last night preparing!” somehow it seemed like everyone had eye bags. Last minute preparations were on as the CIs scolded us for doing it RIGHT IN FRONT of the very people going to play the games. The clues flew as if the sec 1s and 4s had magic powers trying to bring the clues to them so they could cheat. Finally we split into our groups and set off to the most exciting place of the day, Labrador Park! Facilitators were like zi highing while the others were like, okay, they’re kidnapping us to some ulu place.

Everyone was walking round and round lost people and my group was like standing there, stoning at the map like something would come out of it. After hinting them for more than 10 minutes, my fellow facilitator and I were getting desperate for time. Encouraging words from Evelyn ma’am that we were planning our route unlike the other groups who were walking in circles made us more optimistic and we finally, like seriously, decided on the destination.

The nature reserve did not seem that welcoming as the lush green leaves hinted the humidity and the masses of mosquitoes hiding. True enough, the mosquitoes feasted on us as we climbed to the highest point of the park where we played our first game. After conquering the highest point, fortunately rest of the journey was down hill.

One of the games that left me a vivid memory was the rubber band and half a straw game. It was a great interaction between the sec 1s and 4s. From my point of view, it was almost as if they were kissing! Imagine kissing your senior! I could tell the sec 1s almost died of embarrassment.

Another comical game was the deserted island game. You must be wondering how can that game even be funny. The epic moment, was when my fellow facilitator said that she could not live without her student diary and we all started laughing. 100% nerd I guess?

As we could hear our stomachs rumbling, the smell of food was not too far. After a day of laughter, fun and games, we were all hungry and tired. Just as we reached for the food, our unit outing oic announced that we had to perform our cheer first. Having not practiced it properly, my group was nervous. It felt awkward as we said the cheer in front of everyone but I thought we said it well and I felt proud to be the facilitator of this group.

After, everyone munched away hungrily at the delicious pizza. It was a great unit outing and will always stay as a vivid memory of my NPCC life.
